Interview : CICE

Given the current optimism with Houdini and the necessary transition from Softimage artists and to a different 3D application I have been embarking on demistifying a few things about Houdini and the wonderful guys from CICE and specially Miguel Gomez did consider publishing this interview on the subject. Softimage to Houdini Transition Guides

After Autodesk decision to abandon Softimage I took upon myself to use my little spare time to help the community to transition to what I believe is the best tool for any FXTD and CG artist. Given its steep learning curve I though it would be great to try to compare Softimage to Houdini from an artistic point of view and skill all the very technical details for those who are interested. Farewell Softimage

For the past eleven years I have been lucky enough to be at the right time in the right place and with the help of very talented people we managed to produce some truly amazing work, I feel fortunate enough to have built my career in a time in which the craft was more valuable than ever, but even more important has been the role of certain tools that enabled us to produce that work.

D&AD awards celebrate 50 years

Another amazing surprise to see Playstation “Mountain” still going strong and being recognised in such a way again. Site maintenance finished

Reorganisation of categories

Finally managed to have a bit of time to fix the organisation of categories and the main menus, sure enough this should be cleaner and more readable while keeping the content intact. In case you have some links to some articles please check they are still valid as the way the paths are built will be affected, something Google loves ;-) In any case, the most important change is that I have grouped all CGI subjects, from events, business to XSI tutorials under one menu. Enjoy

Google’s world domination

Today everything came together as I haven’t managed to put into words some of my feelings with the latest products from Google, a company that somehow is morphing from search to something terrifyingly different, a data mining company and the level of the event is such I couldn’t really comprehend the impact.

Pear notes

What a discovery today when reading smoking apples article on Pear Notes, a note taking application for OSX that will rock your world.

Portfolio updated

Seems finally I have managed to put together the images for the old portfolio and the only thing missing is to add the very latest jobs and old jobs I never had the time to find all the stuff so stay tuned for the next days as I am close to finishing the redesign. Thanks for the patience.
