New Website

After many years strugglin with Wordpress authoring and maintenance I have decided to move to HUGO static site generator which is quite a refreshing thing.

Let’s face it, Wordpress is great, it is easy, and free, but you need so much stuff around it in the form of Plugins, cache managers and what not… it becomes truly annoying.

Then you add the massive effort caused by script kiddies, hackers and otehrs and messing with too much technical effort for so little payoff, it is naturally to go back to static websites.

Solution

My new approach is based on static page generator Hugo with a private reposotory on GitHub to store the source code. These files are authored localy via a reposotory that I push and pull which is linked to Netlify which takes the publised changes in GitHub and automatically deployes them to the Netlify servers that is what you see when you type https://www.jordibares.com

Furthermore, the domains are served from NameCheap and customised as CNAME and ALIAS pointing to the Netlify deployment.

The total cost of this setup is ZERO.

Truly awesome combo… this is the future.
