Pear notes
What a discovery today when reading smoking apples article on Pear Notes, a note taking application for OSX that will rock your world.
Portfolio updated
Seems finally I have managed to put together the images for the old portfolio and the only thing missing is to add the very latest jobs and old jobs I never had the time to find all the stuff so stay tuned for the next days as I am close to finishing the redesign. Thanks for the patience.
Posts upgrade
In the process of adding more value to those articles and posts I am now reviewing every single post, upgrading them, adding many images as you sure have noticed and will setup the links to videos and making-of provided the permissions to publish those are in place.
Website revamp
As you probably can see from the random changes, experiments and graphic tweaks the website is right now on the process of being revamped to WordPress 3 with a new theme that will require some fiddling for a few days until I get it right. Please be patient and bear in mind I am still working on it. Thanks for your understanding.
Annecy 2010
The 50th animation film festival is a total success an bearing in mind how weird this whole thing is, meaning in the middle of the alps… Well, seems great.
The reality of post-production
Seems some of the many people that sure had this idea has done it and let’s face it, should ring a bell on the industry about what is our place in this creative community, not only a hairdresser would never get these kind of requests, he will get paid in full before the customer leaves.
Hackintosing
I am fascinated by all these people out there spending their time on hacking computers that normally would run windows or linux to now run mac os x.
Free data for everybody
After today’s announcement on the new UK children’s database; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8052512.stm I worry about the data, which in theory is secure, but let’s face it, what credibility does the Labour government has on the subject; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7771787.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7103911.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7147715.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bradford/8033172.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/8003757.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/wales_politics/7935210.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7345533.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7148770.stm (there are many many more examples but I got tired of writing them) So as you can imagine I am very worried indeed on the whole subject of data centralization in the hands of government officials, let’s face it, they don’t know what they are doing at all.
Google vs. Wolfram|Alpha
Just lately has been quite a bit of press on the new project from Wolfram, and the media hinted to the “Google Killer” which in my opinion is a bit misleading as this is not a competitor on searching, but a competitor in quality of information and a research tool. So where are these two huge projects going? In my opinion a small answer is not possible, you have to understand a bit what Google and Wolfram do and where they come from but more importantly where the new Alpha tool lives today.
Splunk and the new era of search
Well, it was a matter of time till someone does come up with on-the-fly search for the arbitrary software output and performs all sorts of advanced analysis on the huge volume of information coming out of hundreds or even thousands of machines.
